Since day one, in 1989, Qualisys has made a mark in the motion capture industry. With trust and quality at our core, we aim to make an impact and deliver the best solutions for our customers.
Qualisys offers a wide range of products and services. Our customers are found in the biomechanical research, sports biomechanics and medical sectors. Our systems are also used for engineering and specialized industrial purposes, along with entertainment applications such as virtual reality and animation.
“We want to make a difference in the motion capture industry, and we are on an exciting journey together with our customers and partners.”
Founded in 1989 in Gothenburg, Sweden, Qualisys quickly gained traction with its core technology. Among its first customers was ABB, a global leader in automation, which integrated Qualisys’ camera into its crane control systems.
The 2000s marked pivotal advancements for Qualisys, including the launch of QTM software in 2002, which enabled 2D/3D capture. Breakthroughs such as underwater and outdoor capture, along with a new camera platform, facilitated an expansion into North America in 2007.
In 2011, a sales office with a dedicated team was established in Shanghai. Technological advancements in motion capture were significant, with approximately 10,000 cameras sold worldwide by 2015 since the company’s inception.
Vätterledens Invest acquired a majority stake in Qualisys, becoming the principal owner. The company also earned ISO 9001:2015 certification and launched its Clinical System as a medical device under the MDD in Europe and FDA in the USA.
Qualisys introduced the Arqus platform, the industry’s highest-performing motion capture camera. This innovation was followed by the Arqus Underwater, which solidified Qualisys’ leadership in aquatic motion capture. Additionally, the Arqus MRI was launched, becoming the world’s only motion capture camera designed for MR environments. Qualisys also opened an additional office in Singapore.
Our customers can be found in a wide range of applications worldwide, including medical technology, sports biomechanics, biomechanical research, industrial applications, and animation.
